Apologies everyone, I've been busy for the past week or so. I will be responding to e-mails and toots. 😊

Thank you all for your patience and apologies for the downtime.

Update on Site status:

This will take longer than expected to fix. We are currently still troubleshooting.

Apologies, everyone!

We are migrating servers for the Bookrastinating News Blog (blog.bookrastinating.com). This will result in some downtime. Will toot again once it's back up.

Thank you!

Ursula K. Le Guin died four years ago today, leaving us some of humanity's most soulful and visionary literature, and her beautiful wisdom on real human communication: themarginalian.org/2015/10/21/

@janne @Janne Hi! I am not sure but I will look into it for you. I have heard of this happening to other Mastodon instances as well so it may not be affecting just Calckey instances.

@tinyspheresof@mastodon.socia This is not possible just yet, unfortunately. However, the maintainers of Bookwyrm are aware of this issue!

@Elephantidae Sorry for the delay, but it should be back up now! The site decided to go down during my sleeping hours.

@ghostgroove Thank you for letting me know! The site should be back up now.

The blog is hosted on a different server, so it seems like only the bookwyrm instance was affected.

@WestCoastChelle

It's a bit of column A and column B.

Each instance hosts their own database.

However, if the book was imported from another instance's catalogue, it will share book details with that instance.

Additionally, when our instance is aware of another user on another instance, we import the user's books and those book details.

Let me know if you need further clarification!

Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a good reading year. Don't forget to set your reading goals for 2023 if you are inclined to do so!

We have a new blog post outlining the details of server costs and our monthly donations. Feel free to give it a read.

Thank you!

@jared

I'm flattered, thank you! However, I think the better person to ask is the maintainer of BookWyrm: @bookwyrm @tripofmice

I am just someone who used their code to spin up this site :)

@Tattooed_mummy

You currently cannot log into BookWyrm instances through the Mastodon apps. I am not sure if this will ever be implemented. My fingers are crossed for a BookWyrm app in the future, though!

@drbjork @drbjork @drbjork Unfortunately, there is no easy way to move between instances yet. One thing that has worked for some people is to try to make the Bookwyrm export CSV match the fields in the Goodreads export CSV file.
